Chaetomorpha or ‘Chaeto’ is a popular macroalgae commonly kept in saltwater aquariums. It is characterised by its green, stiff and curly thread-like strands. Chaeto is typical seen growing in entangled clumps. Chaetomorpha is popular amongst hobbyists because of its ability to absorb nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. This natural filter is hardy and has a fast growth rate making it a great addition to all saltwater aquariums and/or refuguims. Chaeto also provides an ideal habitat for desirable organisms such as copepods and amphipods that in turn act as food for fish and coral.
